The downtown of Coimbra traditional commerce wanted a strong image that would linked the local community, the shops, the costumers and the historical little streets of it’s city. So, the grandmas were invited by a local student organisation Há Baixa, to develop and work with university students, shop owners and residents to create a piece that would represent local commerce and all of the bonds it creates with people and territory.
